Book
Color Doesn’t Exist: A Practical Guide to Infrared Photography, released in 2022, is a guide for photographers both new to and experienced with infrared photography. It covers infrared light, filters, lenses, camera conversions, focus, diffraction, shooting settings, and editing. It is available in eBook and Audiobook editions; the print edition, released in 2023, is sold out.
Courses and Coaching
Rob’s video courses teach infrared editing step by step, from white balance and color swapping to complete edits:
- Mastering Infrared Photography in Lightroom Classic
- Mastering Infrared Photography in Lightroom
- Mastering Infrared Photography in Photoshop Camera Raw (coming soon)
Lesson subtitles are available in eight languages. He also offers one-on-one infrared photography coaching and hosts live streams where he answers questions and edits viewers’ infrared images.
Tools for Infrared Photographers
He has created multiple tools to simplify the complex editing workflow for color infrared images. The Infrared Profile Pack and Chrome Profile Pack are free collections of camera-specific profiles which allow setting of a good white balance in Adobe and other raw editors. Simplify the color swapping process with Photoshop actions, Lightroom profiles, ON1 Photo RAW presets, darktable presets, and LUTs.
He also built the Infrared Lens Database, which collects infrared hot spot reports for hundreds of lenses, and the Diffraction Calculator, which shows which ƒ-stops produce visible diffraction softness for a given camera and filter.
Talks
He has introduced infrared photography to photo clubs in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Canada, and in the United States including California, New Mexico, Wisconsin, and New Jersey.
